What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
There are many types of Artificial Intelligence. Our AI Assists application relies on Generative Artificial Intelligence technology called a Large Language Model. A large language model (LLM) is a computer program that can understand and create text. It's like a really smart robot that can read and write, but it's not actually smart like people. It works by predicting what words or sentences come next based on patterns it learned from lots of information.
What can Large Language Models (LLMs) do?
LLMs can write stories, translate languages, summarize articles, write working code, and have conversations. They can sound human-like, and just like a human, they can make mistakes and sometimes give wrong answers. They don't know everything and can't explain why they say certain things.
What are limitations of Large Language Models (LLMs?)
LLMs need lots of data and powerful computers to work. They can be biased if the information they learned from is biased. They are helpful tools, but they still have room to improve. Be aware they often produce false information as well. It’s replicating patterns, not thinking.
What are tokens?
Tokens can be thought of as pieces of words. Before we process the prompts, the input is broken down into tokens. These tokens are not cut up exactly where the words start or end - tokens can include trailing spaces and even sub-words. Here are some helpful rules of thumb for understanding tokens in terms of lengths:
- 1 token ~= 4 chars in English
- 1 token ~= ¾ words
- 100 tokens ~= 75 words
Or
- 1-2 sentence ~= 30 tokens
- 1 paragraph ~= 100 tokens
- 1,500 words ~= 2048 tokens
